TPF's CEO recently visited one of the major construction sites of the Lisbon Drainage Master Plan 2016-2030: a visit focused on the fight against climate change
Thomas Spitaels was impressed by the construction progress of the tunnels designed to channel excess rainwater to the Tagus river, a large-scale project at an estimated cost of around 250 million euros, particularly complex due to its location in a densely urbanized area.
More specifically, the project involves the construction of two drainage tunnels with a total length of 6 kilometers that will be connected to retention basins to the north and south of the city. When completed, the new infrastructure will help the capital prepare for the impacts of climate change, significantly reduce damage cause by floods, improve water quality in the Tagus and capture rainwater for reuse.
This project is particularly important to us as it perfectly reflects our engagement with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely: SDG 6 - Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 13 - Climate Action.
The visit took place with the CEO of TPF Consultores, Carlos Baião, as well as with Fortes Monteiro, Carla Cascais, Luis Sá, Carlos Gomes and Tiago Santos. It also provided an opportunity to exchange views with the TPF team in charge of controlling and supervising the works.
Thomas Spitaels then visited the headquarters of TPF's Portuguese subsidiary: a visit marked by several productive meetings with the financial and HR departments. Additionally, ongoing projects were discussed and presented, including the expansion of the Lisbon Metro’s Red Line.
