Ceará Water Belt (Cinturão das Águas do Ceará)
The Ceará Water Belt is one of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken in Brazil
This vast water supply network is part of the project of transposition of the São Francisco River waters and is expected to cover the water needs of the arid Nordeste region by 2040.
The project aims to deliver water from the São Francisco River to the Ceará catchment basins with a maximum flow of 30 m³ / s. The water will be drained using gravity into 1300 km of canals and will pass into aqueducts or tunnels depending on land configuration.
This project has been divided into five work packages.
